Recap of Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Episode 18

“Sneak Attack” rides on the savage aftermath of Eren and Reiner’sReiner’s ongoing Titan struggle. MAPPA crushes it with the animation and combat choreography. The audience feels every blow Eren and Reiner throw at one other, making the battle challenging to witness. Reiner feels he will finally eradicate this menace once and for all.

The finale of this encounter is the goriest in recent memory, and even the scorched bone of the Cart Titan is terrifying. The Titans’Titans’ war screams are enough to deafen the city and leave the citizens immobilized and powerless. The Jaw Titan’sTitan’s synchronized assault over rooftops is also a good usage of CG in this kind of conflict. The Beast Titan’sTitan’s boulder barrages are visceral and intimidating, yet in “Sneak Attack,” swaths of airships are destroyed like a child tossing pebbles at paper airplanes.

In “Sneak Attack,” Zeke focuses on the Jaeger siblings, which causes conflict in Yelena. Yelena’sYelena’s veneration for Zeke and the Beast Titan is almost spiritual, which only adds to her instability. Yelena alternates between excitement and dread as Zeke rises and falls throughout this episode. It’sIt’s as though she’s seen God trampled by humanity.
As she adjusts to the new normal, Yelena becomes a threat. Her delusional, unpredictable temperament and unexpected triggers make her one of the scariest series. But the terrifying part is that she could either embrace Armin or slash his neck at this point. Yelena’sYelena’s need to have something to believe in while the world is so shattered is understandable.

Yelena accepts the destruction of her idols, but Gabi is more motivated than ever to fight for her fellow Eldian and ensure that no man is left behind. Many people still dislike Gabi, but she has never been more relatable than in “Sneak Attack.” Why isn’t Gabi able to defend her friend? It’sIt’s a sobering reminder that these key participants are children facing unimaginable death sentences.

It’s as poignant when Falco, alone Eldian, convinces himself she’s not worth the effort. The contrary is accurate, and it serves as the needed olive branch to heal the Eldians. Before Falco escapes, his cellmates congratulate him on having a home to return to and not being drafted to become a monster. This apparent silver lining is bittersweet since Falco is on borrowed time like them.

12. Katsuki Was Originally Supposed To Be Nice?

The most surprising fact about Katsuki is that he, of all the Boku No Hero Academia characters, was, according to the initial drafts of Horikoshi, supposed to be a really sweet and air-headed sort of guy. He was supposed to be a dense person who spoke without much thought and unknowingly roasted others. Though after much thought Horikoshi, thought the previous draft to be tedious and opted to make him like the kind of a person you wouldn’t like at all.

11. Katsuki Wasn’t Supposed To Be Popular

Continuing on the same line of thought from the previous point, you must be confused by the last sentence as we all love Katsuki. So, what exactly did Horikoshi mean by wanting to make him an unlikeable character? See, the thing is that Katsuki has been defined, in the official database of the Ultra Analysis book itself, as an ‘abusive egotist’. Horikoshi wanted to make Katsuki a person with villainous characteristics that one would definitely come to hate. Thus, imagine his surprise when he turned out to be the most popular character.

10. Katsuki Is The Most Popular Character

In all the popularity polls that have been conducted, Katuski has always made it to the top five. It seems that not only does he ace in the hero course but also in the race of popularity. It was only during the first popularity poll that Katsuki ranked 3rd. After this, he came first during all the six consecutive popularity polls. We really do dig the explosive tsundere, don’t we?

9. He Is Musically Inclined

The list of things that Katsuki has mastery over is a long and probably a never-ending one. To add to his skill set is another hobby, that’s right people, Katsuki Bakugo is a pro drummer. In episode 19 of season 4 of My Hero Academia, set during the U.A School Festival Arc, we get to know for the first time that Katsuki is very good at playing the drums. The funny thing is that while everyone was in awe of his amazing skills, nobody was surprised. It seems that everyone has already accepted that Katsuki is a natural-born genius.

8. His Name Means Explosion And Victory

Maybe Horikoshi was going for an angle where Katsuki’s fate to be on top and to have an explosion quirk was written in the stars itself. We say this because the breakdown of Katsuki Bakugo in Kanji reveals that it contains the words bomb and powerful for Baku and Go, respectively while Katsu and Ki contain the words to secure victory and self, respectively.

7. He Has Popular Ships

So far, Katsuki does not have a love interest, but that hasn’t stopped the fandom from having some fun and shipping him with more than one character. Two of the most popular ships of Katsuki are Kiribaku and Bakudeku, with the first one standing for Kirishima and himself and the latter for Deku and himself. All of this is only in the fun as Kirishima and Izuku are just really good friends of Katsuki.

6. He Is An Intern Of Endeavour

After Best Jeanist is temporarily out of commission in the hero business, Katsuki joins the Endeavour Agency for an internship. With Katsuki, Izuku, and Shoto, it seems that the all-powerful trio of Class 1-A have all gotten the opportunity to be trained by the best hero there is, Endeavour. 5. A Fine Taste For Spice

4. Bakugo Can Cook

Add one more thing to the list of things Katsuki can do, and you get to realize that he can also cook really well. In more than one instance of the series, Katsuki is seen to be really adept at using the knife, which makes us think that he may just be also good at cooking in general.

3. Katsuki Has Used One For All

In the My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising movie, Izuku transferred One For All to Katsuki in order to fight the notorious villain, Nine. Although what was thought to be a permanent transfer was only temporary in nature, with the quirk coming back to Izuku. All Might assumed that the quirk automatically came back because he passed out before the transfer was completed, but subsequently believed that the Quirk chose Izuku because of his willingness to protect others, even if it meant losing the quirk itself. Before you ask, we would like to tell you that the events from the movie are canon to the anime series only and not the manga. Another thing that must be kept in mind is that the movie was produced under the supervision of Horikoshi.

2. Katsuki Was Given A Hero Name By The Fandom

We know that each one of you eagerly waited for Katsuki’s hero name to be revealed. Unfortunately for us, his hero name was the last one to be revealed. The reason being that Katsuki’s earlier decision to name himself, Lord Explosion Murder and King Explosion Murder were rejected by Midnight. Thus, Katsuki takes a long time to choose his hero name and so the fandom decided to take matters into its own hands to give him two equally amazing hero names; Dynamite and Ground Zero. Both the names gained huge popularity and were used before his actual hero name was officially revealed.

1. Katsuki’s Actual Hero Name Is A Mouthful

After a long period of waiting, it is only in chapter 293 that it is revealed this Katsuki’s hero name is Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight. Sticking to his character, Katsuki did what he wanted to because it was his life and his rules. Although it is a mouthful and certainly humorous, we support Katsuki in all his endeavors.

Why Did Yujiro Hanma Kill Baki Hanma’s Mother in Baki The Grappler?

why did yujiro kill bakis mom

When it comes down to amazing fight scenes, the anime industry doesn’t have any dearth of legendary anime with overpowered characters and well-executed fight scenes. Even so, one of the best, if not the best anime that always makes it to the top of the recommendation list is none other than the Baki series. An evergreen anime with jaw-dropping fight scenes and plotlines filled with twists and action, Baki the Grappler should be everyone’s go-to anime. Full of emotional rides too, one of the saddest parts of the manga turned anime series was when Emi Akezawa, Baki’s mother was killed by her very own lover, whom she had dedicated her entire life.

The question that comes to the mind of every viewer at this point, is just what reason did Yuujiro Hanma had for killing his own son’s mother. Another important question to be asked is just why Emi, who had neglected Baki all her life try to protect him. Did she finally by any chance come to love Baki? Great, not as we will answer all of these questions in depth and go beyond by giving you other interesting pieces of information. Gambare, fans of Baki!

Who was Emi Akezawa?

Emi Akezawa is a pivotal character and the mother of Baki, the protagonist of Baki the Grappler anime and manga series. Before her death, she was also the lover of Yuujiro Hanma, the ultimate antagonist of the series and Baki’s father. She was enamoured with Yuujiro, which resulted in her physically and verbally abusing her son. Initially, Emi appears to be a supportive mother who was only attempting to help her son become the strong person he desires to be, however, it was later revealed that the only reason she was supporting Baki was so that he might impress Yuujiro Hanma, the only person that she truly loved. Her devotion turns into a sick obsession over time, and she stops having any form of affection for Baki.

When Yuujiro expressed his dissatisfaction with Baki’s progress, she became distraught and blamed her son for being weakling. She punished him by striking and even biting him when he hugged her and pleaded for her love. She was likewise unconcerned with her own son’s mental distress as all she cared about was the approval of Yuujiro. However, much to everyone’s surprise, during Baki and Yuujiro’s horrific combat, Emi overcame her sadistic impulses and realised her true love for Baki. Her maternal instincts impelled her to defend him, even if it meant risking her life due to which she even attacked Yuujiro and ultimately dies protecting him. In her dying moments, she realised just how cruelly she had treated her son and expressed deep and heartfelt regret for her previous acts of cruelty and indifference to his feelings and well-being.

Why Did Yuujiro Kill Emi?

One thing that must be kept in mind while we answer the question is that Yuujiro Hanma is the central villain of the whole of the Baki series and that it is Baki’s misfortune to have him as a father and Emi’s misfortune to have been involved with him. A sadist, he takes a sick pleasure from others pain and sufferings. He has a profound hatred for the weak and does not believe that they are even worth murdering. Yuujiro sees Baki as nothing but a tool to his own satisfaction and wishes for him to become as strong as him only so that he can have a good fight. He is a psychotic man, more animal than human as was apparent when he killed Emi Akezawa. He only killed her so that Baki would hate him and be motivated enough to become stronger to give him a good fight.

why did yujiro kill bakis mom
Yuujiro Hanma

The most powerful human in the entirety of the series, he works as a well-paid freelance assassin and mercenary for a variety of powerful nations and wealthy groups. He is also unusually quiet and stoic the majority of the time. Its never been clearly stated just how rich and influential Yuujiro is from the important jobs that he has taken but judging from his expensive tastes, one can assume him to be an extremely affluent man. He is known to the world as the World’s Strongest Creature or the Ogre. He is a ruthless and conceited man whose principles have no mercy for anyone including his lovers and son.

Yuujiro is also a master manipulator, as is evident from his relationships with his son and Emi Akezawa. His entire existence revolves around fighting and destroying all that he can. He becomes stronger with each person that he defeats and kills, and his entire mindset is committed to nothing but fighting and growing stronger. Furious or not, he kills people without any remorse or concern. He is a conceited man who believes himself to be the most important living creature on the planet and feels free to do whatever he wants as really there is no one strong enough to stop him. Yuujiro regards everyone like an insect to be trampled upon including Emi and Baki.

How Did Baki’s Mom and Yuujiro Meet?

Yuujiro Hanma, although a powerful and brutish man, did have high standards and strong connections in the upper echelons of society. Thus, he met Emi Akezawa, a rich lady at a very important and lavish party. Emi Akezawa, who had come with her husband Eiichi Akezawa, becomes immediately attracted to Yuujiro. As both of them keep staring at each other, an envious Eichhi starts a conversation with Yuujiro. The duo with no sense of care or consequences, kiss each other after Eiichi spills champagne on Yuujiro’s suit out of anger and jealousy. Eichhhi does not stop there and attempts to assault Yuujiro but is stopped by a fighter. The fighter faces Yuujiro in an attempt to defend Eiichi, but not so surprisingly losses against Yuujiro. After the party ends, Yuujiro breaks into Akezawa’s mansion since he knows that Emi desires him just as much as he does. He confronts Eichhi and enquires about Emi’s location, only to kill him in front of her as an act of flirtation. He embraces Emi and seductively tells her that he likes the cruelty and bloodthirst in her eyes and would thus like her to give birth to his child. It is this meeting that leads to the beginning of their relationship and the birth and horror-filled childhood of Baki.

How Does Baki’s Mom Die?

During the childhood saga, we see Yuujiro paying a visit to Emi Akezawa after a very long time, much to her delight. She tries to fling herself into his arms, but he rejects her and accuses her of failing to properly raise Baki, claiming that their son is far from being strong and is still just a frail nobody. He also tells her that he will now be in charge of their son’s growth. Emi becomes enraged and rushes at Yuujiro with a razor, but he easily stops her. He kisses her because her bloodlust makes him happy. Yuujiro eventually declares that he will test Baki on what he has learnt so far. Yuujiro then travels to the mountains and murders Yasha-Zaru, the dear animal friend of Baki. He only does it to enrage Baki because he felt like it. He cruelly shows Baki the ape’s head during his training, much to the latter’s anguish and sorrow. An out of control Baki goes insane when he sees the head of a precious friend. As a result, Baki tries to attack Yuujiro but his father just nonchalantly pulls him aside and announces that he intends to fight the coming month.

On the day of the awaited fight, Yuujiro makes a grand entrance by entering the battle site from a chopper, where Baki and many of his buddies were waiting as a show of support. The former is accompanied by his team of support that consists of Emi Akezawa, Hitoshi Kuriyagawa, and an ancient soldier known as Sir. What happens next is very surprising as the fight is interrupted by an unexpected earthquake but what is even moring shocking is when Yuujiro puts a stop to the extremely strong quake by punching the ground. The immense might of Yuujiro astounds everyone but a vengeful and emotional Baki attempts not to be concerned about his father’s remarkable display of strength and decides to go forth with the battle.

Emi’s dying body on top of an unconscious Baki

Baki tries hard during the fight, but he is unable to really injure his father. Yuujiro is still pleased with his son’s performance and becomes really excited. At one point, an ecstatic Yuujiro begins viciously knocking out and nearly killing his son but is stopped by Emi, who unexpectedly becomes determined to defend her child from a dangerous fate. Yuujiro is amazed that Emi finally developed maternal instincts after receiving a blow to the face from Emi. Accepting the challenge Yuujiro easily and gruesomely kills her by rupturing her eardrum and breaking her spine by hugging her for the last time. A delirious Yuujiro then kills all the bystanders and walks away from the crime scene. Emi who realises how much she loves her son spends her remaining energy cradling Baki and singing him a lullaby.

Will Konan Die in Naruto? The only female Akatsuki Member

Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto series has a wide range of villains who have garnered their own fan following over the years and not without cause. Naruto is one of the most-watched anime out there for being the story about an orphan boy who grew up with nothing but was able to change his destiny with his willpower and perseverance. However, fans also love the series because of its villains, who all have well fleshed-out backstories.

The Akatsuki clan has always been a fan favorite because of all of their abilities, intriguing backstories, and cool character designs. They were an organization of the most infamous criminals and powerful shinobis who had banded together to bring about a new era of peace but through any means possible.

Konan, Yahiko and Nagato founded the Akatsuki clan with Yahiko as their leader. Yahiko’s views of a new and better world without wars between various shinobis had influenced both Konan and Nagato very deeply since all three had lost their families because of war.

As the only female member of Akatsuki, Konan was a very important member of the group. She was always the supporter of both Yahiko and Pain from their childhood days, as the three founding members of Akatsuki and till their death.

So, Who is Konan?

Konan was a kunoichi from Amegakure and a founding member of the original Akatsuki. We get to see Konan for the first time in episode 125 of the anime. Konan’s parents were killed during the Second Shinobi War, and hence, she was an orphan fending for herself. She is the one who finds Nagato lying on the ground with his dog, on the verge of death. She takes him back to their hideout, where with the help of Yahiko, she takes care of him.

The three bond together very closely and share similar ideas about the war. They train together under Jiraiya. When they graduate, they form the infamous group Akatsuki and make Yahiko their leader. Yahiko was the most passionate about changing the Shinobi world and bringing forth an era of peace.

Konan’s Paper Technique

What were Konan’s abilities?

Konan was a very talented Kunoichi and an S-rank criminal. She was personally trained by Jiraiya and was praised by him as well. Konan’s powers were heavily appreciated by her two partners Yahiko and Nagato. Konan’s nature transformations included Wind, Water, Earth, and Yang Release. She is also a sensory-type ninja.

Konan loved to make paper art as a child. Later, she developed this into her fighting style, Dance of the Shikigami. With her technique, she could transform her entire body and clothes into paper. She could make paper clones of herself and even hide explosive tags in them to ambush the enemy. She could create paper wings and fly with their help; also launch paper projectile weapons from those wings.

Her paper was unaffected by water or even Jiraiya’s Fire Release: Flame Bullet technique. She could even overpower Jiraiya’s technique with her paper ninjutsu. Konan could create fake environmental surroundings with her paper.

Konan’s Personality:

Konan is shown to have a very calm, level-headed, and stoic demeanor in the anime. She is similar to Nagato in this regard. As a child, she is shown to be quite cheerful compared to the other two and has a natural affinity towards origami. Unfortunately, the traumatic events in her life changed her overall demeanor. She did not speak much during any Akatsuki meetings, but she is more compassionate than the other members. She always prioritized the safety of her members.

Konan’s Role in Akatsuki:

Konan acted as a supporting character in the group, working under Nagato and Yahiko. After Yahiko’s death, she chose to follow and serve Pain (Nagato), who had become the leader of Akatsuki now. Konan was the only one who still called Pain by his real name. She did his bidding without any questions and supported him throughout. She also acted as the intermediary between Pain and the villagers of Amegakure. The villagers would call her God’s angel as she had paper wings on her back. She could read Pain’s emotions as a result of knowing him since childhood.

After Nagato’s death, Konan defected from Akatsuki and became the de facto village head of Amegakure.

How did Konan Die?

During the fourth Shinobi World War, Tobi infiltrates Amegakure. He ends up face-to-face with Konan and asks her the location of Nagato’s corpse so that he can take his Rinnegan. She tells him that she intends to kill him. When Tobi asks why she and Pain betrayed the Akatsuki, Konan replies that she had seen the embodiment of light and hope within Naruto, and so had Nagato. That is why Nagato revived the people he killed in Konoha, the process of which depleted his life force completely.

She says that she believes Naruto can accomplish the aim of a peaceful and better world. Konan attacks Tobi with her paper shuriken Jutsu, but they pass right through his intangible body. She envelops him in her paper form mixed with her explosive tags, ready to sacrifice herself to kill him. However, Tobi saves them both by warping most of the explosion away. A part of his mask breaks off.

Konan uses her paper to replicate the lake of Amegakure. Tobi lands on it, thinking it is the real lake, then falls into the abyss of paper. She detonates the six hundred billion explosive tags she had hidden there over a period of ten minutes as Tobi cannot stay intangible for long. She believes she has killed him off and collapses as her chakra has depleted itself by now.

Astonishingly, Tobi appears behind Konan and stabs her in the back with a metal pipe. He survived her attack by activating Izanagi at the cost of his left eye. She freed herself, and the rains oner Ame stopped for the first time. Konan took this as a sign of Nagato’s will and hope for a better world. She became more determined than ever to stop the darkness which she believed Tobi to be. Unfortunately, Tobi grabbed her by the throat and put a Genjutsu on her so that she would reveal Nagato’s location. His attack was such that she would die when the illusion ended. Her blood-soaked body falls into the water.

One of the pieces of paper from her clothes, soaked in her blood, gets blown to the Ame Orphan’s old hideout and comes to rest on top of her ‘Hop-in’ card. This fulfilled the promise, Konan had made with Nagato and Yahiko that they would return to this place once everything settles.
